Homemade Sore Throat Remedy

homemade throat remedy

Here in Fort Collins we got our first streak of cold days, and though my spirits were high and my smile everlasting, my body was not ready for this sudden change in weather.

This concoction will have you up and at ’em in no time after you start to feel the first tinge of a sore throat.

(Thank you so much to my lovely brother-in-law who shared this with me. Without you, I’d be a hot mess. Check out his Instagram too! Lovely pictures and unique style.)

How To:

Put a splash of water in your tea cup, enough to cover the honey so that it will stir in nicely. Mix the honey and water well, then add your lemon juice and vinegar and fill the tea cup the rest of the way with hot water. Throw your cinnamon on top, stir again, and drink up! Forewarning: this stuff tastes amazing yet burns on the way down. I’m told this is the healing process. 🙂

Drink at the first sign of a sore throat.

Some other things you can try as colder weather approaches…

  1. Gurgle with salt water. Just add some warm water to a cup, add salt, gurgle and spit out.
  2. Drink up that Throat Coat tea – it helps.
  3. Roast some garlic. The best way to eat it is to just spread it on some toast.
  4. Stop drinking your coffee! Caffeine only worsens colds and sore throats. Take a break and let your body recover!
